Jun 10, 2009 (Datamonitor via COMTEX) -- BRK/A -- Bermuda-based XL Insurance has entered into a new agreement with National Indemnity Company, an insurance company subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway. Under this agreement, and its related reinsurance agreement, National Indemnity will issue endorsements to 'Side A' directors and officers policies.

The new endorsement to XL Insurance's 'Side A' coverage offers clients the option to add an additional layer of protection from National Indemnity, said XL Insurance.

John Burrows, senior vice president of XL Insurance's professional group, said: "Available through XL Insurance's US professional group, this agreement ensures that our 'Side A' clients benefit from our decades of professional liability underwriting experience, our fair and efficient claims handling and our long-term commitment to the marketplace.

"XL Insurance's association with National Indemnity brings together our collective strengths to support our clients' long-term professional liability needs. This is especially critical in today's economic environment."
